It depends on your age, gender, and whether you have existing medical conditions that require monitoring.
Generally speaking, healthy men and women should have a physical according to the following table:
Your Age | You Should Have a Physical |
---|---|
20s | Every 5 years |
30s | Every 3 years |
40s | Every other year |
50+ | Every year |
Women should have a yearly well-woman exam that may or may not include a Pap test. Women should also have a mammogram every year.
Ask your doctor what type of physical schedule is appropriate for you.
If you’re experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911. Do not wait!
We don't call in most medications because this is not a good practice. We DO NOT call in narcotics or other controlled substances. If you think you need treatment for a problem, come in and let one of our providers examine you.
For more information, please see our Prescription Refill Policy.
We participate in Medicare and most HMO, PPO, and traditional indemnity insurance plans.
For more information, please see our Insurance Information page for a list of the plans we currently accept.
Call our office to inquire about your particular plan. You can reach our expert billing staff at (817) 997-4731.
Old records are useful to have for patients with complicated health histories. However, for the most part, old records are not necessary for your first visit at Star Medical Associates.
At Star Medical Associates, we treat patients age 18 and up.
Your coverage will depend on your specific plan. Having insurance does not necessarily mean your routine or preventive care is covered. Medicare doesn't cover routine physicals, and its preventive care is limited to certain types of tests and exams, as well as how often those tests or exams can be provided.
You should verify your benefits prior to services being rendered.
All our employees sign a confidentiality agreement regarding the use and care of your medical information. This is a cardinal rule for our practice. We understand our legal obligations to protect your privacy, according to the privacy provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which is federal law. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
If you have any concerns regarding privacy and confidentiality, just ask! You can reach us at (940) 382-6900 in Denton, Texas, or (469) 301-2300 in Frisco, Texas.
